Review Activity: The Hidden Years of Jesus’ Life

Imagine that you are in first-century Palestine. Jesus has just been executed, and rumours of his resurrection are sweeping across the country. Television stations are doing special reports on the events, interviewing people who were involved with Jesus throughout his life.

In groups no smaller than 3 and no larger than 6, prepare a 10-15 minute "Special Report" featuring TV news personalities and centring on an investigation of Jesus’ childhood. Consider some of the following roles:

bulletMary, the mother of Jesus, reflecting on things about him that concerned her even when he was a boy
bulletJoseph recalling the kind of boy Jesus was
bulletthe rabbi who taught the child Jesus in the synagogue
bulletchildhood friends of Jesus who are gathered to discuss what he was like when they knew him and what, if anything, he did then that could have given them a hint about his future

Humour is always fun to include but be careful not to turn the young Jesus into a buffoon, nerd or geek etc. at the expense of making your presentation funny!
