Rattles, Drums, Whistles, and Herbs all play important roles in Native
Spirituality. Make a diagram/sketch with instructions that could be used to
teach someone about these items.
List the ceremonial rituals that are outlined in the guide with a
description not longer than 5 words for each ritual.
Step 3: Read Woodland
Art Assignment, find an example of Woodland art that you like and write about it
using the thought provoking questions found in the assignment.
Examine the piece of art you have selected
either from an independent internet search or from the samples on the Woodland
Art tab on this page. Look for the elements as listed
on the tabbed page and write an interpretation in 350 - 700 words of the spiritual
elements it contains. Be sure to add the image or a .url of the art you chose to
your explanation. Note any elements that reflect an interconnected
relationship—humans to nature, animals to fish, God/the Creator to humans, etc.
Use the following reflection questions to help with your explanations:
How difficult was it for you to see all the symbols in the painting?
What helped you move past your first attempt and to find more symbols?
Were you able to understand what the artist was expressing about the
Aboriginal way of life?
