World Religion’s

Independent Study Project

Part 1 – Research Report (50%)

Write a research report on one denomination from one of the following religions that we have, or that we will, study in our World’s Religions course:

bulletJudaism
bulletIslam
bulletChristianity
bulletChinese Religions
bulletJapanese Religions

Your research will focus around the 7 common elements or patterns found in most religious traditions (sacred stories, sacred scripture, community, beliefs, actions, sacred spaces, and sacred times)

You will use the rough booklet to help focus your research and writing. This booklet must be hand written and will be worth 15% of the total mark for this section of the ISP.

 

Part 2 – Reflection (20%)

What do you think is the most valuable aspect of the denomination you have chosen? Explain your answer. Your answer should be a minimum of 500 words or two, double-spaced, typed pages.

 

Part 2 – Reflection (30%)

Choose one of the following "Hands On" activities:

bulletCollage that illustrates the time line of your denomination
bulletRe-enact and film one of your tradition’s sacred story
bulletWrite a eulogy for the denominations founder (250 words)
bulletConstruct a model of your tradition’s sacred space
