Federal Government

You can begin by heading to the following site:Educational Computing Organization of Ontario. Click on Government Of Canada Primary Internet Site. Place cursor over About Government and in the drop down menu go to Government At A Glance.

  1. Who is the Governor General of Canada?
  2. Click on Prime Minister. Who is the Prime Minister of Canada?
  3. Click on Biography. What did he study while in University?
  4. He is the leader of which party?

Now that you have completed this, click BACK until you reach the Government At A Glance page and then find Debates of the House of Commons and click on Senators and Members.

  1. The Senate consists of this many members?
  2. Are these members appointed or elected to the Senate?
  3. How many members is the House of commons made up of?

Click on the Site Map on the bar at the top of the page and enter the Members of the House of Commons and click current just underneath it.

  1. Who is the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons?
  2. What party does he represent?
  3. Find your local Member of Parliament by using your Postal Code. List his or her name and party.

Now that you have taken a quick look at the Federal government, log on to Government of Ontario to begin investigating our provincial government.
